There is a great deal to like about the iO and this is without a doubt a step up for Oral-B. But, the downside is the price. It costs quite a bit more than the Genius X and does not deliver significant benefits that would be justifiable to most for the price. Conclusion Perfecting your brushing routine, including the brushing time, technique and frequency will bring more positive benefit than any particular toothbrush.

There is not much difference in the size and weight all told, only a few grams but sit them side by side and we think that most would prefer the in-hand feeling of the Smart 5. Both come with a premium travel case and a 2+ week battery life. A visible pressure sensor, 2 minute timer and pacer are built-in too. iO Series vs Genius X You too get a visible pressure sensor, but this now lights up not only red to alert you when you brush too hard, but green too, to show you are using just the right amount of pressure.

Compatible with Other Oral-B Toothbrush Heads

A professzionálisan fejlesztett fogkefe fej körbezárja a fogat, miközben a 2D tisztítási teljesítmény vibráló és forgó mozgással jelentősen több lepedéket távolít el mint egy hagyományos kézi fogkefe. Both brushes offer Bluetooth connectivity, which means that they connect to an Android or iOS smartphone via an app. This is somewhat made up for by how incredibly grippy the handle is. It is suitable for children, adults and seniors. Putting this to shame is the 9000’s travel case which is heavier, bulkier but much more premium to look at and touch. It also has the ability to charge the brush in the case, by connecting the provided charging cable. If this is not enough, a USB cable can be connected to the case and charge a device like a smartphone. If so, the Oral-B Pro 3 3500 is the absolute best choice. The Oral-B Pro 3 3500 and its box contents

What’s more, it delivers an excellent clean, with three modes – Sensitive, Daily Clean and Whitening – that take you all the way from a softer brush that’s easy on the gums to a more intense polish that should help get rid of staining. Battery life, meanwhile, is exceptional; you’ll easily get through two weeks of brushing and probably three without a recharge. It’s the king of sensibly priced brushes and one of the easiest recommendations in the Oral-B range. One of the biggest differences is that the Pro 2 2000, which is the more premium model offers an extra cleaning mode. The Vitality toothbrush handle is sealed, meaning it is water resistant, ideal when it will be exposed to moisture in the mouth. You can happily rinse it under the tap to give it a clean, avoid complete submersion in water though. At the most basic level you get a timer that is in sync with the handle and logs when you brushed and how long for. Bristles of the brush head should just skim the tooth surfaces. You don’t need to brush hard to clean your teeth effectively.

Rechargeable Battery

These mid-range models don’t necessarily stand out amongst all the other choices. They either offer only a little bit more than the cheap models or just a bit less than the top of the line options. There are also Clean Maximiser bristled brush heads that change from green to yellow. When the bristles are all yellow, it is time to replace the head. There is no battery in the case, to charge the brush and anything connected via the USB cable the case has to be connected to mains power. Heads should be replaced on average every 3 months. Worn bristles clean less effectively and can potentially damage the teeth and gums. Now, to be honest, the clean provided by the Vitality is more than satisfactory and unless using side by side, you probably would not tell the difference. But there is a subtle difference between the Vitality and models within Oral-B’s Pro series.

The body of the handle is made from plastic, which is gloss white in colour. There is a rubber grip that is wrapped around the majority of the brush handle, which not only makes the brush look smart and easy to hold, it reduces the very clinical look of the white plastic. The iO Series 9 on the other hand really doesn’t provide value for money. Of course, value is relative to your earnings and expectations. Unable to do long term tests on all the brushes we do have some other models that are going through such. Associated with the cleaning is the power of the motor and the number of movements and pulsations it offers. It’s a bit of a hassle as you need to stand almost perfectly still in front of your camera and a smartphone holder like this is not what most of us want in a bathroom.

You get the standard features like the 2 minute timer, 30 second pacer, rechargeable battery and fading indicator bristles on the brush head. In case you are not very familiar with Oral-B terminology, let us tell you that Oral-B Vitality share the same brushing technology, which the brand calls 2D. This is because it combines two actions, oscillation and rotation, to achieve greater efficiency than with a manual toothbrush. That is to say, the heads combine the movements of oscillation and rotation, although they do not have the vibration that other brushes of more advanced ranges do. Clinically proven, the oscillating, rotating and pulsating head does a great job of cleaning the teeth. It sounds cliche, but you do really get that dentist clean feeling. Lasting up to 16 days or 66 minutes in our testing, that is an extra 4 days or 16 minutes of usage time. Smart 6 6000 vs Genius 9000 Az elektromos fogkefe markolatában lévő praktikus időzítő tudatja, mikor érte el a fogorvosok által javasolt két perces fogmosási időt.

Kids/Junior series: Variations of the Vitality, Pro and Smart Series brushes aimed at kids and teens. Often slightly smaller and featuring favourite characters or more colourful designs. The Genius X does command a premium for this technological upgrade and you get a little less in the box. There is an argument that the more movements and the more pulsations, the better the results. This is perhaps true if you compare the budget brush vs the top of the range model. But, when comparing mid-range brushes the differences are subtle and it is unlikely that the extra movements have a clinically significant impact. The other big plus with the iO Series 9 is charging. You get not only two weeks’ worth of charge in just under three hours, but also a slimline travel case that allows you to charge the brush while in-situ. While it’s due to be superseded by the new iO Series 10, this is not just the best Oral-B toothbrush, but the best electric toothbrush you can buy.

You get the features dentists recommend, a very good tooth brushing experience and 2 weeks of battery life. But, to put it into perspective, you can get about 12 Vitality brushes for the same price. It certainly doesn’t clean the teeth 12 times better. The Pro 3 3500 offers the features we regard as essential (a pressure sensor and a timer) at an affordable price.
